Our friend, Niranjan, from Bangalore India got engaged! Here’s his engagement picture, and that beautiful woman is his bride-to-be. Isn’t she gorgeous?

I am so thrilled for Niranjan. Marriage is such a great thing.

Geoff and I had a very simple wedding, even by our standards. We had fallen in love and wanted to get married but we were always very busy going around the world. 

One day, in 2004, Geoff looked at me and said “Let’s go get married tomorrow.” There was nothing to think about. I had known for a while that this was going to be the rest of our lives. So we went down to the city hall, filled out some papers, stood in a line and presented our applications at a window in between the domestic violence window and the child support one. I guess it doesn’t get any less romantic than that.

A woman we’d never met before married us and there we were, married. We went and had lunch at a mediocre eatery on the beach and we were the happiest people in the universe.

We still are. We never stopped being newlyweds. I still blush every time he says I am pretty and he blushes when I call him handsome. I still dress up for him and no one else and I melt away when he compliments me.

Anyway, so that is why I am so happy when my friends get married, because marriage is just such a wonderful thing.
